Re: The Wild Weasels feel the sting of Winter

I noticed this. 1st no-hitter in more than 2 years. Last 1 was Tommy Hanson back in April 2026. I wonder if the fact that the new Minor League System has likely caused inflation in overall-"lineup talent" contributes to less no-hitters lately. It certainly isn't because of the lack of good starting ...

Re: comparing SD to real players with speed

Spicoli, you're being a bit harsh on old Jack Haas - yeah, he's no wizard defensively, however he has improved in arm to the point now where his ratio is... the same as YOUR team. Don't think that he is responsible for 100 extra steals (not all teams are set up to take advantage of his B arm), but ...

Re: comparing SD to real players with speed

Holy crap, max! Forget your base running, your Catcher is an abomination. You are looking at a good 100 or so extra steals per season. Add to that the 15 or so errors throughout the season. Those errors aren't always the type that leads to a a steal of 2nd where the ball ends up in the outfield and ...

He who shall live in infamy...

Dan Ulrich , career .622 OPS hitter with 1 of the most amazing, least likely, pinch-hit Home Runs ever... Followed immediately with a game tying solo blast by my favorite Washingtonian, Mike Show. Suddenly, Game 4 is tied 2-2 going into extra innings. The inning prior, Washington was getting shut o...

Re: hall of fame inductees

Thanks for keeping up with this, max! I'm very happy to see the DDL HOF will be adding Dan Robinson , an old favorite from the Cleveland-ownership days. To be perfectly honest, I didn't think there was a chance in hell that he would fall to #8. I had the other Robinson ranked 1st because I really lo...

Re: Research Notes

Looks like 13 AS in 2027!!! My favorite piece of trivia: Paul Lopez , starting 1st baseman for the Houston Halberds, will likely be the only position player not starting for the NL roster of All-Stars. He also will not be the back-up, likely because the #2 team in the NL, Milwaukee, qualify ...

2 weeks later: Pointer's 11th overall in AL OF voting  So yeah, not such a great finish for Pointer. To be completely honest though, his near .400 average was really the only thing keeping his season special. As for batting averages, the race for the batting title doesn't even look safe anymor...

Re: Been in hospital

Sorry to hear you had been in the hospital, Ridge. Glad to hear you are home now. Not loving the effects of that Cleveland-Philly trade, but I know that wasn't anything you could have seen coming. Who would have known that Roy Hobbs was playing inconspicuously under the moniker Newt Spence this whol...
