Re: Congrats, Danno

Just 3-4 cycles ago, I had a guy on a team I've given up since hit .402 pretty much through July. He was hitting something like .360 against RHP and close to .500 against LHP, but only had around 60 or so ABs against lefties. Apparently, I held the market on LHP starters there. Anyway, he'd won an ...

Re: Congrats, Danno

Interesting. I checked in the Mickey Mantle League and that league had a 31 game winner in its 1968 season. I agree that the level of difficulty seems to be lower for those ace pitchers in the first few years of a Dynasty League. Pat Martino was the pitcher in the Mickey Mantle League. He went 31-4 ...

Re: Congrats, Danno

Congrats to both K.C. and Boston on the playoff berths. Sorry to Toronto and Chicago on falling behind and missing out. Over in the NL, we finally managed to pass St. Louis for the lead. If we can just sweep Montreal, we will have home field advantage. Huge surprise for San Diego to take 2 of 3 agai...

5 starts away from history?

With just 5 expected starts left, we'll have to wait and see if Ed Hartung can set the single season record for wins. Legend Billy Calhoun currently holds the record at 28 wins. Hartung's 25 wins this season currently stands at a tie for 18th best win total for a single season. 4 more wins gets him ...

Re: 2056 hall of fame ballot - come and vote

DeepThreat, you make a lot of good points. I had kind of forgotten about how bad Piazza was defensively. 1996 was just an absolute mess for him. 155/34 18% CS . Makes you kind of wonder if any of the 90's Dodgers teams could have been made better with a decent defensive catcher. I know I cherry-pick...

Re: Philly/Jim Walsh Hot Streak

Brooklyn ends the streak . Both Philly's 10-game winning streak and Jim Walsh's 11-straight wins in games started. Jim Walsh doesn't take the loss though, so he might keep the streak going a few more games. He had a tough matchup facing off against Clem Glass. Receiving George Cox in a trade deadli...

Philly/Jim Walsh Hot Streak

Well, Philly is in first place now in the NL. Their hot streak appears to have started 51 games ago. They've gone 39-12 since starting 22-26. Most key to their success appears to be Jim Walsh , who has turned a 1-5 start to the season into a 15-6 record. Currently, he's won 11 straight starts. Combi...

Re: 2056 hall of fame ballot - come and vote

New York (NL) votes for: 1) 2B Bo Buckner 2) SP Buck LaPorte 3) RP Billy Bad 4) C Bryan Dobens Kid Tanner is going to get in whether I vote for him or not. I'm choosing not to list Tanner because I don't think he was good enough to be an unanimous 1st ballot Hall of Famer. For all his offensive prow...

Re: Browning gets 2 pinch hits in 1 inning

Quite the comeback as well. From down 12-1 at the end of 5 innings to winning the game 15-12 without needing extra innings. Your Wobblies have been alternating hot-and-cold all season long. I'm amazed they managed to follow up an 11-game losing streak with their current 24-5 run. Things are looking ...
