If there is in fact a new league formed from the remains of this one, using
the suggested rules (system 2 minors, system 4 injuries, themes encouraged,
no lottery) then I would be willing to be part of it, perhaps even I would
be bold enough to write up the proposal/private league application and
serve as commissioner. If I am wanted.

For those interested here's how the AML works the salary stuff.
There is a standard formula for younger players. We used the OS28 as the
cut off so anyone under OS28 is considered "younger" while those over are
older.
The younger player salaries are based on where a player was drafted, their
overall rating, their stats from the previous year, their career stats and
the number of years since drafted. Essentially you're going to find that
all your minor league players will get a raise each year and their salaries
will typically run from less than 500K to about 3M.
Players become free agents on the later date of when they are out of
options or they have completed their OS28 season.
In the AML we have 4 days for bidding on Day 1 each player will have a 25%
chance of signing, on day 2 50%, day 3 75% and on day 4 anyone who gets an
offer is signing. You do not have the ability to say I want to sign Player
A but only if I don't sign Player B. If you bid on both you might sign
both so be prepared. When more than one team bids on a player there is a
formula that determines where the player signs and this is based on
contract length, contract amount (the salary will be static so if you bid
8M/year it'll be 8M for as long as you bid). You will be responsible for
the salary of any player who retires so if you've signed a guy through
OS36 and he retires in OS34 you're still paying him for the next two
years. In our league you can only bid up to 2 years into decline.
The offseason takes 5 real life days. 4 days of bidding and one to get
your roster straight.
Cap is 80M so essentially you'll find that stud hitters will go in the
8-12M range while top pitchers go 12-16 (our record is 21M). You'll also
need to find some good 500K guys (league vet minimum). You also are
required to maintain an entire 40 man roster (so no dumping all the minor
league players to clear cap space). If you're carrying a blank space its
a 1M cap hit.
Deke and OBCF can fill in what I'm missing but I've been cutting wood and
burning it all morning and am in need of some hydration and a shower so
I'm off.

i think it is now. there was a point where some of the salaries for waiver
claims and such needed to be manually adjusted but i believe that's fixed
as of the 12th. the free agency period is completely automated, anyway.

Why don't we bring over teams from defunct leagues (OGL, USL, MVL, etc.)
instead of going through a 1950 draft?
I am all for 20 CPs and no lottery. I like themes, but would prefer to be
able to save my renames for either really good or really bad players. I
hate having to rename the truly mediocre types that I bring to the maor
leagues.

start fresh - we need a clean break. There is a general excitement you get
with a fresh set of players, I don't need someone else's garbage.

you're right. with 1/10 pitchers and 3 lineup bats being 32+ we're
really going to suck in 5-7 years. | The league is not
defunct until the current term expires in seven seasons.

yeah, his team be ugly then (ALSO IT PLENTY UGLY NOW I DON'T CARE IF IT DO
BEAT MY TEAM THIS SEASON IT IS A DISGUSTING PILE OF TURD BUILT )N THE BACK
OF A FUCKED UP LOTTERY AND A LOT OF ASSHOLE TRADING AWAY
STUFF FOR PICKS. ASSHOLE). i am all for using existing teams, just
so i wouldn't have to rank that dumb by position draft. but it is not
something i really care about, i can get daniel to rank them for me,
probably.

have we really got that long?? christ. why don't we just get tyson (that
seems weird to be able to type that now) to credit us what's left toward a
new league and get it over with. they can fill the ogl with new recruits
or he can fold it up and give whoever's left a credit for somewhere
else.
(i prefer to start fresh because i actually kind of enjoy the initial
drafts and i haven't done one since the MSL started about 50 seasons
ago.)
((also, i don't know how the salary cap would handle transferred teams.
presumably there's some system to set the salaries of 28+ players during
the initial draft but imported teams might either screw up the system or
end up 20mil over the cap.))
