No Hitter, One batter away from perfect game

Jim Smith's no hitter against New York was nearly a perfect game. Smith hit one batter with a pitch in the seventh inning, otherwise the Highlanders were retired in order. This was the 10th no hitter in Bounders history, the first since 2093 when Don Jourdan pitched the second of his two no hitters, the only Bounder with more than one. Jourdan, who retired the year after his second no-hitter with a lifetime record of 49-51 and a career ERA of 4.85, sent congratulations from his retirement home in Florida.
