I needed a back-up catcher with a high mentoring score, so I acquired this guy:

He's obviously not an all-star, but against lefties he's a semi-serviceable back-up for a non-play-off team.
Clearly not.
He is started the season 4 for 63 with 2 walks and a double. Good for a line of:
.063/.092/.079 with an OPS of .172.
Yes, his OPS is .172
Impressive.
Off to a rough start...

Oops. Ya gotta fix that URL link.
Re: Off to a rough start...
Maybe moral support is more his thing.
Re: Off to a rough start...
So my guy had a (relatively) "great" second half of the season, nearly doubling his average and OPS.
Over 65 games his line ended .103/.158/.160 for an OPS of .318.
That's hard to accomplish.
Especially since his ratings aren't terrible--he's B+ overall and still has an A+ mentor from both sides of the plate (B-/B; B/A- with B speed).
While I can still use his mentoring, we sent him home to contemplate life over the winter. After he spends time with his make-believe wife and kids, he needs to decide if he wants to go out with a .318 OPS or if he thinks he can do better...

Re: Off to a rough start...
After finishing last year a whopping 15 for 146 (.103 AVG) and undergoing off-season decreases in ability, my boy Radar has started this season 5-9 (.556).
Of course he has.
Of course he has.
