Prize Rules

Post by Admin »

The Vin Scully League offers prizes to the top 5 owners at the end of the term. The winners of these prizes are calculated as follows:

A. The Cumulative Records of teams will be recorded each renewal period and the top three (5) teams will receive compensation towards the next renewal period:

1st place -- Free Renewal
2nd place -- Discount credit of $40.00.
3rd place -- Discount credit of $30.00.
4th place -- Discount credit of $20.00.
5th place -- Discount credit of $10.00.

B. For purposes of calculating the renewal standings:

12th place team (losing league) = 10
12th place team (winning league) = 15
11th place team (losing league) = 20
11th place team (winning league) = 25
10th place team (losing league) =30
10th place team (winning league) = 35
9th place team (losing league) = 40
9th place team (winning league) = 45
8th place team (losing league) = 50
8th place team (winning league) = 55
7th place team (losing league) = 60
7th place team (winning league) = 65
6th place team (losing league) =70
6th place team (winning league) = 75
5th place team (losing league) = 80
5th place team (winning league) = 85
4th place team (losing league) = 90
4th place team (winning league) = 95
3rd place team (losing league) = 100
3rd place team (winning league) = 105
2nd place team (losing league) = 110
2nd place team (winning league) = 115
1st place team (losing league) = 120
1st place team (winning league) = 125
ALDS and NLDS Winners + 5
ALCS and NLCS Winners + 10
WS Winner + 20

Tie Breaker (within a season) = Points available to all tied teams will be added together and then divided equally among all tied teams. As an example, if two teams tie for 5th in the standings in the league that loses the World Series, the points for 5th place (80) and 6th place (70) will be added together (150) and divided in half so that each team receives 75 points.

Tie Breaker (overall standings) Team with the most playoff bonus points will be given preference. If, even after using playoff points, two or more teams remain tied, prizes will be divided equally at the Commissioner's discretion.

Hey, fellas  thanks to LannisG for prompting me to double check my totals ... realized I had left out the playoff bonus points in the total point calculation.

Fixed it now.

Also, now that we're a 24-team league, we might want to award some points for Division Series winners...?

Here's how the new totals fall out:

Resolution to change league scoring

Post by spiderrtp »

Resolution is as follows:

Currently
Winning the ALCS/NLCS grants 10 bonus points
Winning the World Series grants 15 bonus points

New Resolution would have:

Winning ALDS/NLDS grant 5 bonus points
Winning ALCS/NLCS grant 10 bonus points
Winning World Series grant 15 bonus points.

Please vote 'yes' to adopt the new resolution, or 'no' to keep bonus points as they are currently.

Assume this will be retrospective?

Yes,

This would be retroactive back to the beginning (1970).

If you look in the current point thread, I have posted the current totals as they are now and what it would look like if we made this change

I'd agree to the 5 points for the Division Series winner, if we also increase the W.S. winner to 20 points.

Every round of playoffs would then be worth a total of 20 points.

I'm ok with that too... makes sense for the 20 points per series...

if you need to visualize it, add 10 to Houston, 5 to Boston, and 5 to Texas and you have the totals of what Willy's idea looks like in the totals
