still 5 potential votes, I'll make a case against Castiglia since it looks like we might make a mistake and put him in. (I was really gonna lose it if Olivo made it, lol)

first, ignore the defense. the sim was different then, guys just didn't make errors, shortstop or not. HOF SS Matt Shepherd, same era, same deal: http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=340 ... s=fielding

offense, you have to consider the era. the thing that jumps out is that despite what look like incredible stats, he never led the league in anything, except doubles, once.

1950 he goes .326/36/129, amazing season, right? but the league leaders that year were .405/52/150. translated to today's era, Leon's numbers that year would be like .280/25/90.
1951 he didn't qualify for the batting title, but would've lost .351 to .329
1952 Leon: .324/36/104; the leaders that year: .346/46/140. Again, he is not close to elite.
1953 - .317/36/110 - leaders at .351/49/141. Leon has still never been close to the best players in the league, and he's now going on 33.
1954, MVP year - .365/39/125 - even at .365 he finishes 3rd. 45/141 are the HR/RBI leaders. his .365/.443/.663 slash line isn't good enough to win any of those 3 titles or OPS.
1955 - .341/40/132 - leaders at .390/42/147
1956 - .315/34/115 - leaders at .389/43/147
1957 - .325/28/96 - leaders at .356/43/152

and that was it for his prime, he played 3 more uneventful seasons and eventually passed away in 1989, RIP.

to recap, this guy had a short and unremarkable career. he always had a seemingly great AVG but never came within 20 points of the crown. the best players of his era were in another world compared to him.

Don't vote for him, and if you have already, don't be ashamed to change it!

3 no votes.

Castiglia...video game numbers but it was a different time. Paul beat me to the punch in that "Casti" led the league in any category only once...so he wasn't even dominant for a short period.

Armstrong...good solid candidate but 210ish Wins and 2500ish strikeouts usually doesn't get into the Hall of Fame.

Olivo...again video game numbers because of the way he was used. The strategy of starting an "opener" has just started in the MLB, it may or may not have merit. However, I'm not ready to elect the "vulture" winning pitcher into the Hall of Fame.

dont be sorry roaddog! i aint mad atcha everybody has different standards. i didn't intend to disparage you or anyone who votes for him. my daddy raised me to believe the HOF should be reserved for the best of the best, the undisputed greats, so i might look a little closer and judge a little harsher than most. it's why i started the Expel Knowles Fabrique and George Club (population 1)

Let me sum up a bit.
Some of us have not been here since "the good old days" when the Dingo's stole the babies with extreme regularity.
HOF numbers are HOF numbers regardless of era.
To defend my guy, he put up all his numbers IN WHATEVER THE CIRCUMSTANCES WERE WHEN HE PITCHED. The rest of it is all a bunch of crap.
It's pretty simple.
You got numbers, you got cred.
All the rest of that crap you put up there is just that, crap.
If you are judging players against different eras in this games evolution, then this committee is exactly what is needed.
The guys proposed in the previous thread deserve to be in.
They compare to others in any era.

It's cool Paul, no hard feelings. Good to be in a league where everybody logs in and everybody cares.
