NHL draft lottery

Post by MNRebel »

Last week I happened to catch this on TV. All non-playoff teams are in The lottery. The first 3 picks are up for grabs...all just like we do.

The odds of the worst record getting the first pick are 18.5%
The 2nd worst record is 13.5%
That averages 16% for the bottom two teams (or 160 out of 1000 numbers)

In the CPBL, we give the two eighth place teams 200 numbers each so the NHL is harder for the worst teams to draw the #1 pick.

This makes me feel pretty good about our lottery system.

Yeah, it's pretty good.

Now if we had Minor League System 3, where all your guys can develop instead of a chosen few, we would have more decent players and it would cut down the haves and have nots in this league.
In real baseball each player develops at his own pace.
There is no cap on how much he can grow.
Your 5th best player would get the same ICs as your 1st instead of 20% less, and so on...

But I digress...

I think the chances of busts would have to be upped too then. I play in a league thats max dev and there's so many red letter guys there's no trading and many hit the waiver wire (and are claimed accordingly, but that should not happen either).
