Pitchers who aren't supremely terrible at hitting

Post by patred »

Just noticed this today, one of my pitchers, John Kammeyer, is B-/C in contact/power batting vs RHPs, and A-/B- vs LHPs. Lifetime .191 hitter with 4 HRs and 42 RBI in 500+ ABs.

Also Jim Fischer is C/C vs RHPs and B-/C vs LHPs but has put up similar numbers in about 400 ABs. He's A- in bunting so maybe some of those sacrifices have turned into hits.

I don't have any pitchers who are terribly good at hitting, however, this year so far my starting pitchers have these stats:

Shannon: 60 AB .250/.267/.262 (D-/D- : F/D-)
Genovese: 41AB .244/.293/.262 (D-/D- : D+/D-)
Mano: 53AB .094/.113/,127 (D-/D : D+/F)
McCauley: 56AB .089/.107/.089 (D-/F : D-/D-)
Hernandez: 54AB .074/.093/.107 (D-/D- : D+/D-)

Which, I think only shows that Shannon and Genovese are having career years at the plate, and Hernandez has not yet figured out major league pitching.

Looking at them lifetime:

Shannon: 316AB .149/.148/.150
Genovese: 323AB .152/.173/.180
Mano: 125AB .112/.152/.126
McCauley: 394AB .165/.185/.181
Hernandez: Rookie
