What's up ABE???

Post by nick9999 »

How can a player be winning the rookie of the yr vote and only lead in 1 category? My guy leads in every category + 2nd in doubles and is in 2nd place in the rookie of the yr............ literally a joke..

I don't know if negative stats are in the formula but he has a lot of CS and errors.

I noticed that to but in any real League it's about what the players offensive stats are. And your guy plays CF with 9 errors. If you divide by chances your guy has more errors. And CS is ridiculous.... It's about how many steals. And My guy is 2nd in the league in doubles while your guy isn't in the top 20 in anything. So your argument doesn't hold water.......

How is CS stealing ridiculous? It negates a hit or walk. I believe that Bill James long ago proved that anything less than an 80% success rate is hurting the team. Wasn't really arguing nor is he my guy, more looking for the reasoning because there is a formula, not a judgement call, but honestly if I looked at these guys in real life I'd consider it closer because of those negatives. Also not sure how much a team's standing influences the ROY vote.

If we were discussing an MVP I would concede the point. But this is Rookie of the yr........My guyz stats except RBI'S crush your guyz....Hr's obp ops and hr's and stolen bases..... If Abe takes a .232 hitter to win the rookie of the yr something isn't kosher in mudville........

Just like Baskets, he's not my guy either, but below is the ROY formula from the game guide. Have at it. Math is fun!

The Rookie of the Year uses the same formulas as All Stars, except with a multiplier used for pitchers since their all star formula results in higher vote totals. Sim Dynasty follows the same criteria as Major League Baseball for determining whether a player is a rookie. A player is no longer a rookie if he has spent 45 days on the active roster, has more than 130 career at bats, or has more than 50 innings pitched.

All Star Formula
For position players, all star votes are calculated using this formula: RBIs + Total Bases + Runs + Walks + SBs - (SO *.25) - (CS * 2) - Errors - (AB / 8)

For pitchers, this formula is used: CG * 5 + Shutouts * 5 + No Hitters * 10 + Wins * 10 - Losses * 5 - Earned Runs * 2 - Hits - Walks + Strikeouts - HBP + IP * 3 + Saves * 5

last yrs stats for rookie of the year
Kadota STL Games 143 ab-540 runs-80 hits-169 2b-29 3b- 6 hrs-17 rbi-74 bb-63 so-96 hbp-2 sf-1 sb-21 cs-16 e-12 OPS-.869 OBP-.386
SLG-.483 ISO-.170 AVG.313

T. SCALZI Games-160 ab-608 runs-79 Hits-174 2b-27 3b-5 hrs-21 rbi-90 bb-55 so-118 hbp-2 sf-6 sb-2 cs-0 errors-23 ops-.795 obp-.344 slg-.451 iso-.164
avg-.286

My Guy beats this guy in runs,2b,3b,walks,SO LESS 22X,SB-19 MORE and had a higher OPS,OBP,SLG,ISO, and batting average. 11 categories and played in 17 less games............

And supposedly the reason he lost was because his team was winning. Again that only applies to MVP'S. Parameters should be set for ROOKIE of the Year, Or one might assume that something really is wrong in mudville...........

The formula is the formula. Everything else, to quote Jeff Lebowski, is like your opinion, man.

The formula includes ABs, BBs, and total bases. All of those are components of OPS, AVE and OBP.
