Challenging the Record Books

Post by DeepThreat »

Bill Hamilton racked up his 26th win of the season against Baltimore today. This places him in a tie for 5th in single season victories with 16 other pitchers. He is the first to reach this number of wins in a single season since Bob McMakin did so in 2027 (and for the 3rd consecutive year). Hamilton has a potential 4 starts remaining on the season. One more win would place him in a 5-way tie for 2nd most in a season at 27 (including the likes of McMakin and all-time win leader Elmer Brock). Two more wins will tie him for the single-season record with Brock at 28. Three wins, and he will break the record with 29.

There is an outside possibility that Hamilton can become the first pitcher in VPL history to win 30 games in a single season.

Wow … that is quite a record season already. 26-2 1.56 ERA and a .91 WHIP is one hell of a season.

Yeah, it's been one hell of a season for Hamilton. Honestly, I can't really find one that's bette in the VPL... other than Brock's 28 win season. Even in that, Hamilton's numbers across the board this season are far better that Brock's that season.

It's easily the best single season for a pitcher I've had in SD to date. Too bad he couldn't put up more seasons like this before reaching the edge of decline.
