Montreal defeats Atllanta in game two of their series

Montreal is only 8-16 on the road but at home they have been 13-10 and are 3-5 for the season against the Atlanta Hammers. In the two games played in the series Montreal has batted.297 as a team with three homeruns and their pitching staff has a .250 ERA and has held the Hammer to a paltry .212 team batting average (14 for 66) and just five runs.

Jerry Rooney went 7.1 innings in the first game before giving way to winning pitcher Rosario Molina for the final two innings.

Molina was the beneficiary of a three run bottom of the eight. that provided the margin of victory.

In game two Luis Minnehan finished what he started, allowing just one run on four hits, did not walk a batter and recorded three strikeouts.

Montreal scored two in the first inning on Frank Bright's (five RBIs in the series) two run single and five in the 3rd inning as the IceBerg built an insurmountable 7-0 lead.

The Shamrocks are rolling along with a 34-13 record (.723 winning percentage) and on a five game winning streak.

Ron Massey (8-1 2.96) went nine innings at Pandos Stadium allowed four hits one walk and struck out ten.

It was the second straight start where Massey has fanned ten or more batters; 23 strikeouts in 17 innings. Massey has four complete games.

Otto Darwin, the losing pitcher (3-4), held the 'Rocks scoreless until the fourth inning. Orlando Dilauro singled to left field and Irv Parent hit the first of two homeruns for his in this game. This was number 12. It was the 9th surrendered by Darwin in 59.1 innings pitched.

2-0 San Francisco

San Francisco added a run in the 5th inning.

Pitcher Ron Massey drew a two out walk off Darwin. Phil Burke singled to left sending Massey to third base. Reserve outfielder Joe Brown singled in the run (Massey). Brown was caught stealing to end the inning.

3-0 San Francisco.

Jim Parrish (5th in 18.2 IP) gave up Parent's 13th homerun in the 8th inning to provide the final score of 4-0.
