The San Francisco Shamrocks' home record dipped to 16-15 after losing five of six on a recent home stand and the players suddenly stopped answering questions about it to the press. That won't make them play any better before the home town fans but it to them will take them out of the discussion any way.

The Shamrocks began a series at home agaisnt the Chicago Cubs, a club they have a 9-1 record agasisnt thisseason and that if thngs go as previously might take the subject off the hot topics list.

Joe Becker, 4th in the National League in wins (7-5) with a 3.26, threw his thrid complete game of the season shuting out the Cubs on three hits for seven innings until the bunch a single buyEureibel Hartje and a double by Rowland Zosky together in the eighth inning for a run to ruin the shutout bid.

Becker finished the game allowing one run on five hits.

San Francisco scored five runs, four earned in the game on eight hits. Both teams committed one error.

San Farancisco's first run of the game was un-earned. Jack Pennoch dropped a fly ball hit by Phil Burkeinthe 3rd inning allowing Noirm Newman to score. The run was set up by a single by Newman and a sacrifice bunt by Becker.

1-0 San Franciosco.

Slim Bluhm walked Orlando Dilauro with one out in the 4th. Mike Gonzalez singled sending Dilauro to thrid base. Gonzalez stole second base as Julio Gorsoica struck out. Mac Mcintire got an RBI on a ground out to shortstop.

2-0 San Francisco.

Phil Burke hit his 8th homerun in the 5th inning off Bluhm (3rd given up in 22.2 innings) to make it 3-0 San Francisco.

San Francisco sent eight batters to the plate in 8th inning scored two runs on two hits and two walks and left the bases loaded. It began with a one out single to left field by Catcher Mark Gonzalez. Dilauro doubled to left scoring Gonzalez who cjhallenged the weak arm in left field of Rowland Zosky (C+). Mike Gonzalez was out 6-3 but seldom usded outfielder Nelson Brumley singhled in Dilauro.

5-0 in route to a 5-1 victory

Atlanta dropped its sixth straight game by losing 5-1 to Brooklyn and dropped six games behind San Francisco.

Second place New York kept pace with a 5-4 win over Miami in 11 innings.

Mike McGhee reached on an erro in the foirst and scored. McGhee singled and sored on Dutch Akers game tying single in the ninth and hit his 3rd round tripper of the season to win it in the 10th off Dewey Jull.

Floyd Detzel hit his 11 of the season for NY in the 2nd inning.
