Sconeirs makes debut with San Francisco...Rocks sweep Miami

Post by chriscrowder25 »

San Francisco 8 Miami 2

@ Four Leaf Clover Stadium

The San Francisco Shamrocks debuted recent acquisition Rudy Sconiers as a starting pitcher. Sconiers was acquired from Toronto on September 14th, thus is ineligible for the post season. But the Shamrocks would tell you that you have to get there and worry about who is eligible or not then.

The Shamrocks were also looking for their seventh straight win at home to go 21-15 (.553) and quite the outraged fans who were worried that this team could not win at home.

The Miami Pandos swept the Shamrocks earlier in the season at Four Leaf Clover Stadium and that was a point of interest going into this series.

Sconiers scattered six hits and two runs over his complete game effort, striking out two over the first five, and six over the last four. He gave up a late two run homer to Mike Swift that spoiled the shutout.

The outcome was already decided by then as the Shamrocks battered around four Miami pitchers for eight runs on ten hits. Otto Darwin started for Miami and gave up three runs on three hits in the first inning.

Phil Burke doubled to right field. Darwin walked Chuck Parker. Irv Parent singled in Burke. Parker to third base. Parent stole second base. (1-0 San Francisco) Darwin hit Dilauro with a pitch loading the bases. Ike Dark struck out. Mike Gonzalez singled to right field driving in two runs (Parker and Parent). Dilauro to third base. Gorsica struck out....Darwin struck out the side....San Francisco 3-0.

Darwin walked Parker with two out in the second and Irv Parent clubbed his 18th homerun of the season

5-0 San Francisco.

In the 3rd Darwin walked Mike Gonzalez. Julio Gorsica singled him to third base. Gonzalez scored on a ground out to second base by Mark Gonzalez.

The Shamrocks added runs in the 4th and 7th on a Ike Dark (10th) homer in route to a 8-2 win.

Brooklyn defeated New York 5-4 dropping the Giants five games behind San Francisco.
