Four new players have been inducted into the Kevin Brown's Hall of Fame!

Post by allenciox »

You can see the entire Hall of Fame (HOF) list here: http://simdynasty.com/hof.jsp?lid=3038. This year sees four new players inducted who have retired in the past several years, including one outfielder and three outstanding pitchers

1. Frank Woods ( http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=12374983 ) should be a hall-of-famer if anybody is. In his 24 years in the Majors he now hods the all-time league records for AB,R,H,HR (631 beat the previous record holder Farmer De Leon),and RBI. Even though he played well after his decline, his lifetime OPS was .881 which in most years for a given batter would be good enough to be a first team all-star. And as to awards, he was on 15 all-star teams --- 13 of them first team --- won the MVP award 6 times, was ROY his rookie year, and also wont the gold glove award six times. He was originally drafted by Brooklyn, but spent considerable time in Chicago (NL) as well as a few years in Boston, San Diego, and Tampa Bay.

2. Del Stillman (http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=12447011) was an awesome pitcher; he is one of only 4 retired pitchers who have a career ERA below 3 (and hint: two of them are inducted this year --- see below ---- as well!) In his prime, he was the model of consistency. For six straight years, from 2062 to 2066, he won the Cy Young award every single year. He also won it in 2060 and 2068. During a twelve year stretch going from 2058 to 2069, he was an all-star every single year, his era was well below 3 every one of those years (once it was as low as 1.72 for the whole year). In five of those years, he led the league in strikeouts and led the league in Wins in four years as well. He also pitched two no-hitters over his career. An incredibly loyal individual, he spent almost his entire career in San Francisco... but also played one year in Atlanta and one in Boston as well.

3. Elmer Chavarria (http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=12356849 ) has the second lowest era (2.96) of any retired player. He won the Cy Young award in five of the seven years between 2056 and 2062, and was an all-star for twelve straight years. He was a relic of the Baseball past in that he waived off players when they came in to relieve him --- he had at least 13 complete games for each year between 2057 and 2063. Elmer spent his early career in Chicago but was taken in the free agent draft by Texas, where he stayed for eight years. He also spent a few of his last years as a journeyman --- Houston, Boston, San Francisco, and Tampa Bay.

4. Rusty Bradley (http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=12375053is) another very fine pitcher, perhaps an infinitesimal step down from the previous two --- but that's because there have been several outstanding pitchers the last quarter century --- with all four of the top career ERA individuals competing at the same time. With a career era just below 3 at 2.99, he is still ranked fourth among all complete career players. He was a little less flashy than the others, but he got the job done. Though he only won the Cy Young award once, he was an all-star for seven straight years and also had two other all-star years. He was drafted and spent the majority of his prime years in Boston, later he played for Montreal, Los Angeles (NL and AL), and Colorado.

Please join me in welcoming our newest inductees! In honor of Kevin Brown's birthplace, this year's Hall of Fame ceremonies will take place in Millidgeville, Ga. on June 24, 2076. All four of these legends will be there, so make sure you get your reservations in in plenty of time not to miss this fabulous event!

Nice write-up! A 7-time CYA winner, 5-time CYA winner, and a 6-time MVP. Hard to top that class.
