Houston 4 Chicago 3

Houston is 6-0 in extra inning this season, Chicago fell to 2-5.

The RangeRovers undefeated streak has been possible because of good pitching in all six games. The bullpen has a 6-0 record; Carlos Rizzo is 3-0 and has not allowed a run. Al Boever is 2-0 but has blown one save and saved one game. Rookie Perry Nixon has pitched 1.2 scoreless inning and is 1-0. Their combine ERA is 2.65.

Four starters have pitched in games that have gone past nine innings. Allan Connolly has started two of the games (15 innings pitched four runs (three earned) Don Nichols since traded and Ray Valdes have started one each. Charlie Onis made this start and it was his second game to go extras. Their combined ERA is 2.45 (13R/12ER in 44 innings.) Onis went eight innings gave up three runs on eight hits walked three and struxck out six.

Opposing starter Roberto Dominguez wemnt six innings three hits one walk three strikeout.

Onios gave up three run and all three were solo homerun giving Onis 13 homeruns allowed this season.

Houston took a 1-0 lead in the 2nd inning. Dick Moore singled with one out, stole second base and scored on a two-out single by pitcher Charlie Onis.

Damaso Garcia hit a one out solo homerun off Onis to tie it in the bottom half of the inning.

Houston took the lead again in thew 3rd. Joe Shaw singled to right field and stole both second and third base (11 steals this season for Shaw) Rick Carey drew a walk from Dominquez. Bob Casian singled in Shaw. Paul Ankiel grounded into a double play (4-5-3) Carey scored but no RBI on a double play.

3-1 Houston.

Ivan Samuel hit a solo homer in the 3rd to cut the lead to 3-2 and Chad Thurman tied it 3-3 with his 3rd of the season.

Onis gave up no more rins over the next three innings before departing' Dominguez went six inning allowed 9 hits and three runs before givinjg way to Stu Crawford who pitched two scoreless innings bwefopre running into a buzz saw in the 10th.

Crawford walked Dave Crwford to start the nning. Crawford stole second base. Ludwig struck out. Shaw flied to center. Rick Carey singled to vcenter to drive in Crawford with the go ahead run.

Al Boever closed it out for his first save in extra innings (1 win 1 BS) for his 24th save of the season.
