The series switched to Houston to regain tied one game each after a day off.

The weather in Houston washout and dry but the Houston fans still turned out to cheer their team on against a team that had been a pest to them all season.

HOUSTON 6 St LOUIS 5

This game see sawed back and forth through out with three lead changes before Houston secured a one run victory and a two to one lead in games.

St Louis got off to a 2-0 lead on a two run homerun by Tommy Panther.

Houston trailing again in the first inning scored a run off the Cy Young winner, Alex Waslewski, who has a fabulous 11-4 season with a 1.75 ERA.

In the bottom of the first Houston scored a run off the Cy Young winner this season Waslewski to get off to a good start and put a dent in his confidence.

Waslewski walked lead off batter Bucky Ludwig, which is never a good thing. Switch hitter Paul Ankiel, who hits Waslewski well, singled to left field. Ludwig on his horse made it to third base sliding in just ahead of Center fielder Charlie Williams throw. Tom Spooner followed with a run scoring single to center field scoring Ludwig. Williams threw out Ankiel at third base to end the inning.

St. Louis tied the game 3-3 in the 3rd.

Rod Anderson led off with a single. Panther reached on an error by shortstop Jay Riley. Crompton's single scored Anderson.

Bottom of the 5th .. Houston took two run lead 5-3 on a two run single by Rick Carey. Waslewski left with two out replaced by Sugar Loman who got Andy Benton on a fly out to left field.

Bottom of the 6th...Riley walked.. Connolly bunted him to second. Ludwig singled in the run. (Riley) Ludwig stole second base. Ankiel singled to left field .Left fielder Jerry Turley threw out Ludwig at the plate.

6-3 Houston

7th Inning... Defensive changed for Houston... Wally Johnson in at third base...Dickie Moore in a shortstop replacing Riley. Connolly walked lead off batter Pat Charles. Ben Powers singled. Turley struck out. Pinch hitter Bruce Davis (for pitcher John Marion) singled driving in Charles. Powell made it to third base.

Harry Otten replaced Connolly with one out. Anderson grounded to first base man Andy Benton. (Powell scored). White grounded to Shaw at second base to end the inning. 6-5 Houston.

9th inning...Al Boever, the 1951 Fireman of the year, pitched the 9th for a save.
