Second place Atlanta and 4th place Philadelphia played the rubber game of their three game series and the Phillies, desperate for a series win came out on top 3-2.

Philadelphia scored first in the top of the 2nd inning. Atlanta starter Micah Reniff allowed a double to Bob Erickson to start the inning, then put Edgar Enright in via a bases on balls. Philadelphia starting pitcher Shep Kroner had a tough 5th inning when Atlanta scored both of its runs sending eight batters to the plate. It began with a lead off single by Ismael Hamlin, who was forced at second base for the first out by Haughey. Kroner issued his only walk of the game to Ian Judge. Philadelphia took control of the game in the 7th.

Springer and Erickson both flied out. But with two outs Jaeger made a critical mistake to Edgar Enright with two strikes and the first baseman doubled past diving right fielder Haughey and Curtis never hesitated scoring the game winning run.
