Over the cap teams

Post by jxroth »

Atlanta and Texas are over the cap and need to get under it asap; otherwise, league competitiveness is compromised. In both teams' cases, it is very easy to get under the cap. Both have extraneous mediocre players in their minors, who are taking up space on the payroll and will never be anything more than benchwarmers. Please fix.

If you release a player under a FA signed contract, and he clears waivers, then you are on the hook for that salary for the duration of the signed contract. At that time someone can pick him up for .50 for the rest of the season but you would still be responsible for that salary.

Looks like someone has a claim on him, he is still clearing waivers until 4/12. If that claim stays and he is picked up that will fix your CAP issues.

Pitt had a ton of cap space...and so the deal seems to have gone through. Which has now gotten Atlanta under the cap. As all the teams are now. So, good outcome.

What happened here? How did Atlanta get back over the cap again?
