The Brooklyn Dodgers improved to 11-2 with a come from behind victory over second pace Montreal , in Montreal, in the opener of a three game series. in Montreal venerable old Warriors Stadium, previously known as the pot hole capital of the world.

Montreal took a 4-0 lead in the early innings beginning with a unearned run in the second inning on a passed ball on catcher Phil Allen. It was the 4th unearned run allowed by Brooklyn pitching in 116 innings pitched.

A one out single by Ernie Phillips and a two out single off starting pitcher Alvin Hockett made it 2-0 after two innings.

Hockett ran into two out trouble in the 4th inning. A double play got Hockett within one out of getting out of the inning but Dick Chatham kept the inning going and sent Hockett out of the game replaced by Francisco Pickett. Pickett gave up a two run homerun to with a two out single and Francisco Pickett double in the run to Buddy Sikorski to put Montreal up 4-0.

Sikorski made an error in the 5th inning that led to Brooklyn's first run. Outfielder Wayne Williams, making his first start after being acquired off waivers from Boston, singled in the run putting Brooklyn in the scoring column, 4-1.

Red Joss, acquired in a trade from Minnesota hit his 4th homerun snce joining the tiem. This one came off Emil Aikers with one on and closed the score to 4-3.

Brooklyn cointinued the late onslaught in the 7th inning. Pinch hiutter Hugo Gonzalez hit his 2nd round tripper of the oung season to tie the game 4-4. Pinch hitter Bruce Kaufmann singled and the hottest hitter in the league, Buck Thomas hit his 4th of the season to put Brooklyn in front for god 6-4.

All three hoimeruns were given up by losing pitcher Emil Aikons in 6.2 innings, he allowed 8 hits and 6 runbs 5 were earned did not walk anyone ad struck out 6.

Francisco Pickett picked up his second win without a loss with 2.1 innings of relief. Scott Unser came in for two innings as well, and Tony Post took care of the 9th inning for his 6th save.

Aikers' replacement, Billy Shea, went the final 2.1 innings for Montreal, and gave up no runs on 2 hits walked one and struck out one.

Thomas, at this poit is leading the league in batting average (.511), hits (24), Runs batted in (16), runs (16) and at second base in the All Star balloting with 75 votes.
