Game two of the Dodgers faceoff with second place Montreal was a blowout. The Dodgers poured across thirteen runs on fifteen hit off six different pitchers while the Dodgers starting pitcher Bill Woodward (3-0) went nine innings gave up eight hits and four runs, three were earned, walked three and struck out six.

Woodward's complete game effort was Brooklyn's fourth complete game of the season, tops in the league and the staff ERA is now a league best 2.28. The unearned run was the fourth allowed by Brooklyn.

Brooklyn's team batting average climbed to .293 after this game, third in the National League.

Brooklyn never trailed in this game after Henry Brewington it hs 2nd homerun of the season with two on in the 1st inning off losing pitcher Mike Edwards (1-1).

Bill Hicks added a two run shot in the rd to put the Dodgers up 5-0.

Montreal took advantage of two errors committed by the Brooklyn infield to score three runs in the 3rd inning to cut the lead to 5-3.

Shortstop Bob Jorgenson and third baseman Bill Mashore had the miscues. Ernie Phillips who drew a walk off Woodward, Laurin Wilie, and Rich Lamabe who had a singled all scored during the inning. Bill Alderson had the only RBI during the inning on a single that cut the lead to 5-3.

In the 4th inning Brooklyn scored three add on runs. Woodward singled with one out. Buck Thomas drew Edwards for walk of the game and Hugo Gonzalez singled to centerfield driving in Woodward. Thomas aggressively advanced to third base. That finished Edwards and brought Johnny Pepper into the game.

6-3 Brooklyn.

Bill Hicks opened the 5th inning with a double that brought up chalk down the left field line for Brooklyn. Bob Jorgenson advanced him to third base with a ground out to second. Catcher Phil Allen singled in the 7th Brooklyn run.

Bill Hicks hit his second of the game and his thrid of thecseason with two on in the 7th inning to make the score 133 in route to a 13-4 Final.

Brooklyn 9 Montreal 1

Brooklyn completed a three game sweep of Montreal dropping them into a four way tie with San Francisco, Pittsburgh, San Diego at 8-7. The 7-8 Florida Rattlesnakes are six outs and the Chicago Cubbies on a eight game skid are 7 out and St Louis (2-13) has lost 12 straight to own the cellar.

The series was not that close. Brooklyn had five batters hit seven homeruns during the three games. Hugo Gonzalez and Bill Hicks hit two, and Bill Mashore hit a grand slam, while Henry Brewington, Red Joss and Buck Thomas also went deep.

Mashore's grand slam put Brooklyn in front 4-0 after one inning of game three, but starting pitcher Mike Mirabelli lasted only 2.2 innings, walking four and giving up one run on three hits, before being bailed out by Francisco Rickert.

Rickert, who won game one in relief of that game's starter Alvin Hockett, pitched a total of 6.2 innings giving up four hits and one run with six strikeouts came on strong in the finale to be the winning pitcher.

Gonzalez hit a two run homerun in the 6th for Brooklyn to put the game out of reach for Montreal. The score at that point was 9-1 and that was the
