Trades and roster moves of the Brooklyn Dodgers

Post by basilrathbonejr »

Brooklyn has made four trades since July 10, 1950 that garnered them outfielder/first baseman Red Joss, outfielder Elmer Bryant (in his case reacquired after being included in an earlier trade) and relief pitcher Ray Aldred.

Brooklyn has four players currently on the disabled list that will be coming off in rapid succession at the end of July, and beginning of August, therefore requiring countering roster moves to make room for these players.

Starting shortstop Bobby Jorgenson out since July 20, pitcher Roy Aldred out since July 12, 1950 catcher Walt Wilkinson out since July 11, 1950, and relief pitcher Tom Estrada all will be returning with a week.

Veteran right handed relief pitchers Jackie McClellan 35, and Fred Plunkett 36, can almost assuredly start packing their bags and start sending out resumes.

Career minor league catcher Boris (Whitey) Mankowski, infielder Marcus McElveen, young outfielder Elmer Bryant, who has options, or infielder Jesse Haines, all are in vulnerable positions on the roister.

Anyone interested in trading with Brooklyn could find some success in getting minor trades done.
