Right hander Mark Hudson (5-4) went eight innings in game three of the Brooklyn-Florida series. Hudson allowed seven hits and three earned run walked two and struck out five to complete the sweep and dropped Florida three games behind the Dodgers with just twelve games remining in the regular season.

Dodger closer,Tomas Estada, pitched in all three games (3.1 IP 5 H 3R/2ER, and three saves giving him 18 saves for the season.

Florida starter Howie Hargreaves faced four batters and was charged with four runs on four hits after Jim Pate singled, stole second, (#29). Buck Thomas tripled driving in Pate to tie the game 1-1. Tom Dauss, starting at first base, after playing third in the first two games, singled to center field scoring Thomas and Bill Hicks hit his 9th homerun of the season putting Brooklyn ahead 5-1.

Hicks has a five game hitting streak and has hit homeruns in the last three driving in five runs.Florida scored a run in the second inning. Bill vOroasco singlked, stole second base and pitcher Bob Mensor singled him in to score. 5-2 Brooklyn.

In the third inning Florida chipped another run off the lead when Dennis Reinhardt homered (solo), his 9th this season.

The Giants won 10-7, 7-5 and 4-2 to move to within two games of second place.



Dee Young's ninth inning double off Estrada made it a one run game but the final score was Brooklyn 5 Florida 4.
