Hall of Fame nominations requested

Post by jbk »

Once again, the moment we've all been waiting for, the annual Duke Snider League (DSL) Hall of Fame nomination season is upon us. In the past two elections 13 former players were admitted to the Hall. That is an unusually large number for two seasons but the total is at least partly a reflection of the fact that for the two preceding seasons we did not have an election. I think we have now caught up. The rules are: any owner may nominate any former player for Hall of Fame consideration. After a certain amount of time, I, as Hall of Fame coordinator, will close the nomination process and ask for votes. Any owner can nominate any former player. At least 8 owners must vote in order for an election to be valid. A nominee must receive more than half the votes cast. Nominees receiving at least 25% of the votes but not enough to qualify for the Hall are automatically on the following ballot.

Only one nominee in last season’s election qualifies for automatic inclusion on this season’s ballot. For some inexplicable reasons that I still simply cannot comprehend, the great Cisco Dreiseward http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=11712574 received only 4 votes last time. This, despite being one of the great closers in DSL history. He was Rookie of the Year in 2029. Cisco made the All-Star team 11 times. Only 4 closers in League history admitted to the Hall of Fame were selected for All Star teams 11 or more times. He is one of the few relief pitchers to ever win the League’s Cy Young award for his outstanding performance in the 2040 campaign. He participated in 8 League Championship Series and 8 World Series. His team, the formerly powerful Philadelphia Vultures, won 4 of those Series. In 64 playoff games he had a 12-4 record with a 2.62 ERA. His Mom asks for your votes.

My cursory analysis of the careers of the players who retired after last season leads me to conclude that I might vote for two for the Hall. They are:

Sherman Stanicek http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=11836657 Stanicek starred for Cincinnati for 17 seasons. He played 1B and RF with an A+ arm and B range. He was Rookie of the Year in 2032 and made one All Star team. He hit 376 HR and had a career BA of .285. with a career OPS of .844. He was an A+ mentor.

Rick Paula http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=12189806 Paula played 16 seasons for the New York Titans and tormented my Vultures in most of those. He was a 6 time All Star and MVP in 2042. He played every outfield position with an A- arm and B- range. Paula hit 270 HR with a career BA of .286, had 419 stolen bases and a career OPS of .816. He was an A+ mentor and won two Gold Gloves.

Nominations are now being accepted for the DSL Hall of Fame. All former players are eligible. Please submit the name of any former player you deem worthy. It would be helpful if you supplied a few reasons why you think your nominee deserves consideration.

I would nominate Melvin Madden, who won 6 Fireman of the Year awards and had a total of 540 saves (4th all-time) a http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=12189606This also compares favorably with Cisco Dreisewerd's 330 saves (37th all-time) and 109 blown, and 11 all-star selections

I also nominate Bill Mack, with 520 career saves (6th all-time), 96 blown, and 11 all-star sections. http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=6636834
This also compares favorably with Cisco Dreisewerd's 330 saves (37th all-time) and 109 blown, and 11 all-star selections

I nominate Eddie Lasky with 489 careers saves (8th all-time), 88 blown, and 5 Fireman of the year award. http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=9553694
This also compares favorably with Cisco Dreisewerd's 330 saves (37th all-time) and 109 blown, and one Fireman of the Year Awards (with 26 saves and 10 blown saves).

I nominate IIzzy Carmen, with 481 career saves (9th all-time) and three years of sub 2.00 ERAs Izzy played before all-star and Firemen of the Year awards were given. http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=123035
This compares compares favorably with Cisco Dreisewerd's 330 saves (37th all-time) and 109 blown

I do NOT nominate Alex Harris, who's 389 career saves 91 blown, 11 All Star teams, and two Fireman of the Year awards. http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=9679407
Alex still compares compares favorably with Cisco Dreisewerd's 330 saves (37th all-time) and 109 blown
