2053 HALL OF FAME NOMINATION REQUEST

Post by jbk »

Once again it is my privilege as Commissioner of the Duke Snider League’s Hall of Fame (HOF) to announce the commencement of the annual selection festivities. Last season we welcomed four new members to the HOF:

Steve Murphy http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=12426215
Sammy Gordon http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=12484936
Otis Drysdale http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=5125945
Danny Redd, Jr. http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=10584613

Please submit the name of any candidate you feel worthy of the honor. The rules for selection are as follows: Every former player not already in the HOF is eligible. Any owner may nominate any former player for consideration. After a suitable interval I will ask for votes. At least 8 owners must vote in order to validate the election. Last season 11 owners voted, the season before that 12. Assuming a sufficient number or votes, a nominee must receive more than half the votes cast to earn enshrinement. Nominees receiving at least 25% but less than the number needed for selection will automatically be included on next season’s ballot. For this season’s election we have no carry over nominees.

To begin the excitement I would like to make the following three nominations:

Angel Paige http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=12319453 Paige retired at the conclusion of last season after an illustrious career with the New York Titans. He won 305 games losing only 105. His win total is 11th best in League history. I can’t prove it but at least 100 of those victories must have come at the expense of my Vultures. Paige was the National League Cy Young award winner 4 times. He won the award in 2045, 2046 and 2047 averaging 25 wins per season. He retired with a career ERA of 3.26, a WHIP of 1.18 and 3,405 strike outs, 11th best in League history. Paige was an All-Star 13 seasons in a row. He played in 8 World Series, on the winning side 5 times. Unfortunately, he couldn’t hit. He had a dismal .125 batting average and only 2 home runs in his career. But he certainly could pitch.

and

Frank Tarver http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=12189711 Tarver also retired after last season. He played for Baltimore for 11 seasons and then with Texas for 6. He was exceptionally gifted defensively as the American League All-Star centerfielder 7 times. He had an A arm as well as A range and earned 5 Gold Gloves. He mentored at an A+ level. Tarver hit 373 HRs and had a career BA of .285. He played in a remarkable 14 LCS and earned 3 World Series rings.

and

Cisco Dreisewerd http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=11712574 Cisco retired in 2044 after 16 years as the closer for the Philadelphia Vultures. He was Rookie of the Year in 2029 and was named to the National League All-Star team 11 times. In his career he recorded 330 saves in 1,307 games. In 2040 he became one of the very few relief pitchers in League history to earn a Cy Young Award. Dreisewerd pitched in 11 LCS and 8 World Series, 4 times for the winner.
