2066 HALL OF FAME NOMINATIONS

Post by jbk »

Once again it is time for me to announce the opportunity for the distinguished owners of the Duke Snider League to participate in our annual Hall of Fame festivities. Last season was slow at the Hall and we had no new members to admit. We are a very discerning group. The rules for admission have not changed and are as follows: at least 8 owners must vote in order to validate the election. In the past we have had as many as 14 owners participate. Assuming sufficient votes, a nominee must receive more than half the votes cast to earn enshrinement. Nominees receiving at least 25% but fewer than the number needed for selection are automatically included on next season’s ballot. After a reasonable period, I, the Commissioner of the Hall, will close the nominations and ask for your votes.
We have four automatic nominations on our ballot. While their vote totals fell short of making the Hall each received more than the 25% of votes required for automatic nomination. They are:

Bill Miller http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=12905804 Miller played 1B for 3 teams in a 19 year career. He was an All Star 7 times. He hit 376 HRs, stole 316 bases, had a career BA of .283 and a slugging % of .468.

Chick Leskanic http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=13023767 9 times an All Star for Seattle, Leskanic pitched 16 years in relief. He had 279 saves, a 131-97 win loss record and a career ERA of 3.42.

Harland Dunn http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=12798874 Dunn starred in RF for Pittsburgh for 14 seasons. He hit 402 HRs, had a career BA of .272 and stole 455 bases. He was an All Star 4 times.

Charlie Saier http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=7619012 Saier played 3B for 3 different teams in his 17 year career. He hit 474 HRs, had a .267 BA and was an All Star 8 times. He was the American League MVP in 2004.

To this imposing cast I would like to add the names of three first time nominees, each who retired at the end of last season after illustrious careers in the Duke Snider League. They are:

Tom Richards http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=13070494 After two seasons with Minnesota, where he was Rookie of the Year in 2050, Richards played primarily 1B for 14 seasons for the American League New York franchise. He was a 9 time All Star who had 224 career HRs and a .291 BA.

Martin Ford http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=13367706 Another 1B, Ford played 11 seasons for Cleveland. He was a 6 time All Star and had 291 HRs.

Red Fox http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=13160480 Fox played the corner OF positions for Milwaukee for 12 seasons. He was an an 8 time All Star and NL MVP in 2054. While he had a rather modest career HR total of 128, he stole 442 bases and had a career BA of .314 and .398 OBP. His career BA is 13th highest in League history and his OBP 14th. He led his league in BA twice, OBP three times and SB twice.

Please submit the names of any players you feel deserve consideration for this highest of honors. Thank you once again for your attention to and participation in this very important endeavor.
