Congrats Boston on a great 7 game series.
After batting .533 in the LCS and leading the Brigade to a 4 game sweep, rookie of the year Lew Johnson came back to earth in the World Series. Boston held the NL rookie of the year to a .143 batting average through his first 28 at bats to go along with 4 costly errors at second base. However in his last at bat, 9th inning of a scoreless game 7, Lew went oppo with a low outside fastball from tiring Boston starter Juan Edwards and hooked it around the left field foul pole just above the 341 sign. That dinger, his 26th of the season, knocked in rbis number 110, 111 and 112 to give Pitt the 3-0 lead.
As it has all season, the bottom of the ninth belonged to Brigade closer "Mighty" Joe Young as he recorded his 6th postseason save and 14th of his young career without a miss. Winning pitcher Devon Kusik logged 8 scoreless for his first and only 2052 postseason victory.
