Drafted 30th overall in the 2069 draft and traded to the Redlegs for a second round pick Hock showed up to his first minor league camp determined to make the teams that passed him up pay. "He had a chip on his shoulder from day one" said his single A manager John Fleske " We all knew he was destined for stardom".
Hock made is JOL debt Sept of 2072 and was put at the top of the lineup. He wouldn't take another day off for 15 years, playing every inning of over 2000 straight games during that stretch. "We didn't even bother carrying a backup SS" said GM Lee Thomas. "We couldn't get him out of a game even for a moment and boy could he fill up a score sheet"!
During his career Hock made 13 all-star teams while winning 3 gold gloves, an MVP award and 2 world championships.
He ended his career with 3417 hits (5th all-time), 2197 runs (3rd all-time), 701 SB (6th all-time), 2263 singles (10th all-time), 527 doubles (12th all-time), 159 triples (1st all-time), 468 home runs, 12,379 AB (2nd all-time).
This soon to be Hall of Famer was named hitting coach this spring.
