Minnesota 11 Boston 5 (11 Innings)

Minnesota has taken the first two games of this series but both have gone into extra innings. Game one went ten innings before the Moonlighters took it 5-4 . in game two Minnesota blew the doors off Boston in the 10th inning and won it 11-5.

The two games have both been battles of the bullpens and Minnesota's has been the better bullpen. Minnesota's pen has covered six innings, allowed seven hits four earned runs and the Boston bullpen pitched nine innings allowed eight runs on 20 hits.

Minnesota improved to 3-5 in extra innings and Boston dropped to 5-3.

Second baseman Mike Straub was the hitting star in this game for Minnesota. Staub was a perfect five for five and hit his 3rd homerun (175 at bats) with one out in the first inning.

Y-Duen Boundap started for Minnesota and went eight innings gave up six hits and two runs waked two and struck out four. Boundap gave up a solo homerun (8th allowed in 85IP) to John Hovlik (1st in 54 ABs) in the 2nd inning.

Minnesota took a 4-1 lead scoring single runs in the third and fourth innings.

In the 3rd inning Weeden singled to start the innings. Straub singled sending Weeden to third base. Amos Strueli got the run in with a ground ball to third base. 3-1 Minnesota.

Minnesota made it 4-1 in the fourth inning when shortstop Don Allison hit his 4th homerun (179AB) off Bob Lind (8th allowed in 63.1 IP).

Boston scored a run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Charlie Gabler doubled past third baseman Aaron Mota and scored on a infield single off the body of Boundap.

Boston tied the score 4-4 with two runs off Hal Warren in the ninth inning.

Lance Deckel singled to left field. Mike Smith drove him in with a double just fair down the left field line. One out later Luis McLean walked and Elmer Chance singled in the run.

4-4 after nine innings.

Minnesota settled the issue with seven runs on 11 hits and one walk.

Eleven batters came to the plate. Floyd Izquierdo one hit and two RBI Straub had two hits in the inning giving him five in the game. Kevin Smith and one hit and one RBI as did Strueli, Staub Webb and Chuck Trillo drove in a run with an infield out.

Rookie Wally Winters pitched the bottom of the ninth in his major league debut giving up one run on two hits striking out one.
