New York (AL) votes for:

1) Mario De La Rosa

Considering this is the 2nd straight season I've only found 1 compelling candidate to vote for, I figured I'd throw Sandy Kofax's name back out there. I'm not quite sure why he dropped off so quickly (probably due to his rather low total of 183 Wins), but if max will allow it, I'd like to include him to my list.

2) Sandy Kofax

Argument for Kofax:
1) 2 Cy Youngs
2) 3 World Series Rings
3) 40th all-time in WHIP (1.20)
4) 44th all-time in ERA (3.28)
5) 1 ERA title (2.56, 2035)

Rich Potter, who came a couple of years after Kofax, had similar stats (more wins, but didn't garner any Cy awards), also didn't make the cut.

for the record: Kofax, in his first year of eligibility received 2/6 votes, 3/8 in 2nd yr, 3/7 in 3rd yr, 2/5 in fourth, so never really that close to getting in - and was beaten out in those years by Joe Escobar http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=11648230 and Jose Morton http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=11899006

different era, but here's another guy who never made it: Buddy Lightenberg http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=3708422

I appreciate you checking on his vote history. I felt like he had some support, but couldn't remember his exact situation.

Yes, Escobar and Morton were considerably better pitchers overall (mainly due to Innings Pitched). That said, they weren't the only "recent" starters that beat Kofax to the Hall (Clement, Skidmore, Nakamura, Coleman, Shelby, and Eyrich all got in). Potter: he was fine, but 0 AS and 0 Cy Young Awards really speak for themselves, no? Definitely underrated (likely the trivia answer to the question of "Who was the greatest DDL starting pitcher to never make an All-Star team?") but hardly the type of snub I see Kofax as.

As for Lightenberg, I'm seeing him as being in the HOF. Did you mean that he didn't get in on his first cycle? He deserves to be there.

Well, you can ignore Kofax then. Just felt strange not voting for more players. Of course, I'd rather have some lean years like these instead of trying to force undeserving players in.

odd, when I looked up Lightenberg he wasn't there and now he is... my failing eyesight, I'm sure... LOL

I only mentioned Escobar and Morton because they were voted in WHILE Kofax was on the ballot - I missed Nakamura who got 3/5 while Kofax only had 2/5 that year, the rest were voted in before Kofax was eligible (and an interesting tid bit - Skidmore was on his way to winning his 5th cy award (and 3rd in a row) when Kofax was traded to the AL in 2032, just edging Skidmore out in a close battle).
