hall of fame ballot

Post by maxthesax »

Just to refresh - you can vote for as many as 6 or as little as 0 (if you don't think anyone is worthy, please say so)
If a player does not receive a vote in his first 2 years he will be removed from future ballots (player with no vote in 1st year will have his name in caps)
after 5 years players not inducted will be removed - last year of eligibility 2030 (player will be in caps for his last year)

In addition: we are now including an "at large" field for veteran players who deserve a 2nd look - they will have *** in front of their names - these "vets" will remain on the ballot until 2038 at which time, if not elected, they will be permanently retired.

Just want to add some commentary to this post;
Love that you have added a place to post possible overlooked veterans.

This is not my final vote but I will be voting for Web Ouellette. Even though he never made it to the playoffs his record speaks for itself.

That being said and going back to the veterans I would like to have seen Milo Alexander added to this list. His regular seasons stats are comparable to those listed now. His stats aren't to far from teammate David Minor who has been inducted from the Starbucks. What I would like you to look as well is his post season stats. I think this is what gets many MLB players into the HOF in real life because it is what everyone remembers. A little insight to Milo and Web. I trade for Milo after a great run with KC. He was 8-1 with a 1.28 WHIP and 2.84 ERA in playoffs, 5-1 with Starbucks. I needed another starter and had to give up a top prospect Web Ouellette to get him from KC. I think in the long run it paid off for the Starbucks. Would have loved to had Web on my team though. KC did a great job in developing him. Also Milo will go in with the KC hat for his great time with them so I'm supporting two KC players to the HOF here.

Thanks for your consideration and I will be posting my final vote later on,
mhollidaze

PS. Max I understand you do a lot of work putting this together. If you had a reason to leave Milo off I will understand. If an oversight hope this helps. What ever you chose I will totally agree and thanks for a great job!

please, if you think of a retired player that you think is worthy, go ahead and let me know - and your point about post season stats is a good one - I should probably add that to my compiling (gee, more work to do... thanks... I think... LOL). For the record, Milo retired in 2022, receiving 1 vote, in 2023 and 2024 he garnered 3 votes in each season, 0 in 2025 and 1 in 2026

I can add Milo next season... now, anyone else???

I might be partial to Milo because he finished his career with the Starbucks and I gave up such a top prospect to get him. May be overload as like you said he passed through before without much interest. Might be he was up against better completion then than now, not even sure I voted for him then.

Whatever works for you Max. I will go along with what you think and not make an issue of it after this.

Thanks for all your great work,
Mike

Thanks again for putting this together, Max. I know I didn't make it easy for you. Hopefully this starts making the ballots a bit more interesting as owners are forced to decide who to keep on the ballot and who fails to make the cut.

Here's the New York(N) vote:

1) Wib Ouellette - #1 & #2 are pretty much no-doubters. I see them both as 2nd tier Hall guys (not meant to be a slight, I tend to break the Hall into 5 tiers). I was more impressed by Wib because he was in the AL throughout his entire career. He managed to hit 500+ HR in a game that makes that nearly impossible. That said, dude never even played a single playoff game. Those KC teams were always one great starter away from becoming a dynasty.
2) Les Robinson - The Yang to Ouellette's Yin. Great player from a great draft class. That said, DynastyBot really cut down his playing time near the end of his career so instead of trying for 2000+ Runs scored & 3500+ Hits, he finished with rather pedestrian final numbers.
3) Marty Mack - I chalk it up as an overlook, but Mack clearly deserves to be in. Mack was one of the best. He was a power hitter who retired with a .297 lifetime batting average.
4) Dick Sparma - There was a case against my guy Harry Hudgens for the HOF due to his very poor rate stats to go along with 3000+ career hits. Sparma was basically the same type of hitter only with about 50 points better in the SLG% category.
5) Mike MacDougal - He didn't have the most saves or the most AS appearances, but he was a special pitcher that dominated the 1980's of the DDL.
6) Roscoe Stein - He didn't have great rate stats. He only won 2 Fireman awards. But check out those sick, sick Playoff Stats. My boy Roscoe would have made Mariano blush. :D
