Montreal is now 8-3 this season against the Knights.

The Expos have not fared well in extra innings only one of six games.

The Expos are 5-5 in their last tn games.

Montreal is now 38-29 tied with Brooklyn for first place, a situation which has has existed all season long with the St. Louis Spiders also prominently in the mix.

Lenny Gorsica (6-6 w/a 2.92 ERA) had a no hitter going into the 9th inning spoiled with a lead off single by Andy Patrick. Patrick was immemdiately taken off the bases by double play started by Montreal's second baseman JIM Belk. Tony McGlothlin then made the final out of the game by grounding out to Belk at second.

Gorsica fanned five in the game striking out the side in the game. Philadelphia had two other base runners, both on walks. Mitchell Morgan broke up the perfect game in the 3rd inning with one out. Gorsica struck out pitcher Les Bombach for the second out. A passed ball on catcher Josie Rusie moved the runner into scoring position at second base Therunner was stranded there when Jerry Conlan grounded into a 6-4 inning ending force out.

Gorsica walked Tony McGlothlin in the fourth inning with no outs but retirred the next three batters to end the inning.

Gorsica retired the side in order in six of the nine innings.

Montreal took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.

Flint Williams walked, stole second and scored on a single by the NL RBI leader Greg Akers (44).

Montreal scored three times in the fourth inning to make it 4-0.

Akers beat out an infield songle to shortstoop. Jim Belk singl seding Akers to third base. Jose Rusie reached on a two base throwing error by third baseman Jerry Conlan.

Williams scored on the play and Belk and Rusie both scored on a double by Pete Brnsfield.
