Aardvarks 9 Chicago 0

Left hander Charlie Thomas kept his season's log perfect (5-0) with a route going six hit shutout of the Chicago Black Bears. Thomas limited the Bears to six hits while walking four and striking out two.

The Aardvarks gave their lefty ace plenty of offensive support accumulating thirteen hits and scoring nine runs. Jack Murray started for Chicago and went 6 innings allowing nine of the hits and seven runs of which just four were earned. Jim Burleson surrendered two runs on four hits in the final two frames.

After Thomas escaped a bases loaded (two two-out hits and a walk) jam in the top of the first unscathed Murray suddenly found himself in a peck of trouble after giving up three consecutive doubles to lead-off batter Charlie Fincher, new acquisition Buster Morris (acquired from San Francisco for Ryan Busby), and Tony Green to put two runs on the scoreboard for Anaheim.

Balvino Sember made it 3-0 in the second inning with his 2nd homerun of the season.

Fincher hit his 2nd in the 5th to put Anaheim up 4-0. That was only the start of the fireworks in that inning. Morris reached on an error by third baseman Otis Foytack and Green lined his second double of the game to left center field scoring Morris. Greg Morris capped off the three run inning with his second homer this season to make it 7-0 Anaheim.

Murray departed after the 6th inning and the Aardvarks Greg Coleman and Doc Adams greeted his replacement, Jim Burleson, with singles. Sember drove them both in with the Aardvarks third single in the inning to make the final score 9-0.
