Wahington Routs Minnesota 10-2...Metzler complete game win is 6-0...

Carl Metzler, Washington's well traveled thirty four year old fifth starter went the distance or the first time in the major leagues and his first in six years. The last complete game came with the Johnson City Cardinals of the Frontier League of the Class D Appalachian League. Metzler allowed two runs on seven hits walked three and struck out eight for his sixth win without a defeat.

After ten games started Metzler has a1.34 ERA in 67.1 innings pitched thirteen walks and fifty strikeouts.

Minnesota scored first in the game, Metzler allowed a run on two hits in the first inning. Davey Reilly doubled with one out.Metzler advanced to third base on the second out, a ground out to second baseman Dave Pryor. Cy Tate singled in the run with two outs.

Washington responded in a big way in the bottom of the first inning. Wally Owens walked lead off batter Kevin Clemens. Stewart struck out. Owens walked Pryor and Duffy to load up the bases. Catcher Scott Hamner cleared the bases with a double into the left field corner. Shortstop Luke Watkins hit his 5th homerun of the season to make the score 5-1 and close the book on Owens.

5-1 Washington.

The Senators added a run in the second when the Vikings were forced to really pitch to Danny Duffie the first time in the series and he singled off Paddy Quisenberry.

6-1 Washington.

Ray Sierra hit his 3rd for Minnesota in the fourth for the Vikings.

Pete heim hit his third since being recalled for Washington in the 3rd inning and Duffie hit number 10 in the fourth for Washington.

10-2 Final.
