Cleveland 6 Washington 5

Washington ventured to Cleveland for a three game series with the Buttheads.

In game one Cleveland broke a 5-5 deadlock by soring the game winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning. Hersh Daney led off the inning with a triple into the right field corner. Alan Gubicza followed with a game winning single off reliever Carlos Devlin for the walk off win.

Alan Miller started on the mound for the home standing Butt Heads. Miller surrendered a three run homerun to Wally Wilhelm, the second of the season for Wilhelm, and the 9th allowed by Miller in 72.2 inning pitched. Washington went ahead 3-0.

Cleveland took a 4-3 lead in thrid inning on a two run homerun by Hersh Daney to deep left field and a two run double by Jamie Spence in the bottom of the third inning. All four runs were charged to Cleveland starter, Ty Lowery, who gave up five runs on eight hits over five innings.

Washington tied the score in the top of the sixth off Miller. Miller walked Dave Pryor to start the inning. Kevin Clemens singled to right field. After Wilhelm struck out, Willie Glendon plated the run with a single to center field.

Cleveland scored a run in the bottom of the sixth inning to assume a 5-4 lead. Jamie Spence drew a lead off walk from Lowery and stole second base. Ralph Jacobson singled in the run. Walt ''Miracle Man '' Collin took over with one on and no one out. Collins got Floyd Gelbert to bounce into a double play (4-6-3). Lee Mercado singled but was left on base when pinch hitter Katsy Messenger grounded out to second baseman Dave Pryor.

Washington tied the score in the top of the ninth inning off Ralph Minor, who blew the save opportunity. A single by Bill Washburn, a walk to Danny Duffie and a run scoring single by Pryor tied the game setting up Cleveland's bottom of the ninth rally.
