HoF Ballot

Post by woodpeckers »

This season's crop of HoF candidates is so large that I am skipping an old timers nomination this round

My process … I look over the retired list and see who has lofty numbers like 2500 hits 400 HR 1500 RBi 200 wins 400 saves etc. Catchers of course may be lower and a guy who made a bunch of AS teams could be considered. Please nominate anyone you think I may have missed.

75% to elect 25% to stay on ballot. Four ballots max. Vote by Jan 25th

My vote is for
Howe
Tracker
Jensen

All of the nominees are very good players and I can understand how they would garner votes..and eventually
might get mine too.

I have an especially difficult time with relief pitchers - I feel they benefit more than any other player from
being in the right place at the right time and, though important, don't contribute as much to the success of
their teams as position players or starting pitchers.

It's worth noting also that Gil Downey put up those numbers after being a 5th round draft choice and was the
very last player chosen in the 2020 draft.....I'll have to remember that next time I automatically waive off one of those 4th and 5th rounders.

And as always, thanks to Woods once again, for his time and effort!

Howe
Tracker
McCourt [his part in Detroit's dynasty is why I have leaned into his nomination, although I generally agree with Cubfan]
