Our Next HOF Old Timers Ballot

Post by woodpeckers »

Hi Everyone. We agreed to consider "old timers" for the HOF recently. Last season in inducted two old timers. So as this season comes to an end I am asking if any of you want to nominate an old timer for our next round of balloting. The way this works is you send me any nominations and I place it on the next ballot along with new, recently retired nominees. The recently retired nominees can get up to four ballots to gain entry. Old timers are one and done.

For the next ballot I intend to see if we want to clean up relief pitchers in the HOF.

Here are the current RPs in the hall with their total number of saves, ERA, and # of Fireman of the Year awards. Only two of these five are in the top ten all time saves list - Kepshire and Washington.

Kepshire * 543 3.19 2
Washington * 531 3.56 4
Davey 449 3.21 3
Connor 447 3.71 3
Bishop 441 2.98 3

Here are the other eight in the top ten. I will be placing these eight on the ballot for your consideration.

Basinski 602 1.26 0
James 537 2.75 2
Darvish 535 4.15 3
Corcoran 517 2.63 1
Garciaparra 516 3.98 1
Milner 484 3.55 7
Sharrott 468 3.48 5
Betances 459 2.72 0

Thanks for doing this woody....James, Basinski and Corcoran are all already in the HOF. Darvish was terrfic some years, I always hesitated from voting for him since I felt he was just in the right place at the right time and benefitted from being on some very good Baltimore teams. He had over 100 career blown saves and is far and away tops in that category......Still he had alot of good years with a bunch of saves and I'll vote for him.
