Chicago 4 NY 3

@ WhipperWill Stadium where the Whips are now 11-15 this season and bent on improving their 2-5 record and -30 run differencial against NY.

The Whips have won both games by an identical 4-3 score with ninth inning rallies.

At the beginning of the game both starting pitchers set out with different missions completely. Red Lamabe an undefeated 6-0 and the author of a two hit eight inning outing in his last start was determined to stop New York's losing streak just where it was.

Randy McBride, just 1-3 with a 5.30 ERA, had been keeping games close recently giving his team a chance to win but not getting the win himself. He wanted to improve on that.

McBride gave up two hits, a walk and hit a batter over the first two innings but managed to strand all four runners.

Lamabe was in complete command striking out three of the six batters he faced and retired.

Both teams broke into the scoring column in the third inning.

Marlan Vina singled with one out off McBide, advanced to second on a ground out and scored the game's first run on single by Brian Hausmann.

Chicago tied it when Nick Schneider hit his second homerun of the season coming off Lamabe with no one on and no one out.

Ed Woodson put Chicago ahead 2-1 with his 3rd of the season in the 6th inning also with no one out and no one on. Lamabe left after six innings having given up three hits and two runs, both on solo homeruns (allowed 5 in 71 innings).

Jeff Childress took over and he alloed the third Chicago homerun of the game, this one to Elmer Anderson (3rd) to put Chicago ahead 3-1.

New York tied the game 3-3 in the top of the ninth off normaly reliable relever Ray Markell. New York had two runs a walk and three hits in just one-third of an inning off Markell. Brian Hausmann single in two runs to tie the game off Mackell. Right hander Gonzalo who made an emergenc start just after coming off the disabled list was moved back to the bullpen and he shind upon releiving MacKell. Medena came in with two on and one out and got Andy Gaillsard to ground into a key double play (6-4-3) to end the inning.

Hank Rapp pitched a scoreless bottom of the eighth for New York. Median gave up a one out single to catcher Johnny Harper but notheing else in the top of the ninth to set up Chicago to win it in the bottom of the ninth.

Lloyd Briley got the first out for New York but Elmer Anderson a fast ball deep over the centerfield fence for his seocnd homerun of the game, 4th of the season and second walk off homerun of the year to win it for Chicago!
