Montreal's streak at ten!

The Montreal Canadien baseball team ran its winning streak to ten and increased its lead to two games over the trio of teams in second place, Pittsburgh, who has lost two straight, Los Angeles has lost one, and Milwaukee three straight losses.

Brooklyn defeated Atlanta 3-2. The New York Stuffgangs took care of the Dodgers 4-1. John Brown improved to 8-4.

Brooklyn defeated Atlanta 3-2. Jerry Christmas got the win and John Smoltz (7-5) took the loss.

Junior Schroll (7-4) threw his second compete game of the season holding the Pittsburgh Panthers to one run on six hits with five strikeouts and one walk.

Doc Montefusco went three four four and scored his league leading 50th run in in the 6th inning on John Ramsey's double Raamsey scored on on nick Boyer's RBI single. The RBI gave Boyer 44 for the season which ranks 5th in the NL.

Montefusco singled in a run in the 7th to up the score to 3-0. Joe Miller added a two run homerun, his 4th, in the 8th to cap off the scoring for Montreal.

Dixie Donohue spoiled the shutout in the 9th inning with his 3rd homerun of the season.

Chicago 7 Milwaukee 2

Chicago is now 11-17 (.379) on rhe road after two straight wins in Milwaukee.

Tim Beswick, 1-4 with Cleveland with a7.43 vERA has been much better with Chicago posting a 3-1 record with a 2.51 ERA in four starts, 28.2 innings pitched, 8 runs all earned, with just 9 walks and 24 strikeouts.

Beswick held Mlwaukee to one run on eight innings walked four and struck out seven.

Chicagop posted a run in the first inning off Chuck Garland. Brent Handrahan walked. Ed Woodson singled to centerfield and Tom McAllister singled to rightfield, but Milwaukee leftfielder Pedro Burkett threw out Handrahan, who stumbled coming around third, at the plate. Mike Townsend singled on a soft liner that dropped in front of centerfielder Vicente Maple to score Woodson. 1-0 Chicago...

Beswick retired Milwaukee in order in their half of the first.

Chicago came back with another run in the 2nd. Emmitt Brown singled to center field. Tommy Wurmley struck out as Brown stole second. Pitcher Tim Beswick singled in Brown. andrahan doubled to leftfield but Pedro Burkett threw out Beswick at the plate for his second outfield assist of the game. 2-0 Chicago 2-0....

Burkett led off the Milwaukee second with a double to left field. Francisco Latham singled to right field scoring Burkett to cut the lead to 2-1 Chicago....

In the Chicago third inning a one out double by Mike Townsend, a walk to Ray Sierra, and two out double by Emmitt Brown scored Townsend and Sierra to make it 4-1 Chicago.

Brent Handrahan started another rally in the 4th when he drilled his second double of the game, 10th of the season with one out in the 4th and Tom McAllister singled to right field to score handrahan and give Chicago a 5-1 lead.

Ray Sierra singled and John Perez walked Emmitt Brown before being replaced by Harry Weilman who gave up a run scoring single to Tommy Wurmely.

John Honeycutt hit his team leading 10th homerun in the 8th to cap off he scoring for Chicago. 7-1 Chicago.

Harry Morogiello hit his 3rd of the season in the 8th inning off Don Jones (6th off Jones in 45.1 innings).
