The Boston Beaneaters continued their series in Minnesota with their second road win of the still very young season. Boston continued to ave scoring succes in the first inning and once again they notched a score in the opening inning. Lead off batter Scott Bowman has been one reason for it. Bowman has a .429 OBP and is batting .294. Bowman had one hit and three walks in this game.

In the first inning Minnesota starting pitcher Bert Scott walked Boewman to start the game. The second batter Jim Klobedanz hit into a fielder's choice at secomd but made up for not advancing the runer by stealing second base. Jim Curtright's bid for a run scoring extra base hit was thwarted by a great diving catch by right fielder Bill Gabler! Shortstop Jim Burke came through with a two out hit for Boston driving in the run. Burke was then caught stealing (2-4) to end the inning.

There was no further scoring until the fourth inning when Burke reached on an erroir by third baseman Mel McDonald. Burke put himself into scoring position with a steal of second. Two outs followed, Putnam grounded to short and Scott fanned Crompton but once again Boston stuck with two outs. Andy Finnvold homered to stretch the lead to 3-1 Boston.

Minnesota benefited from some shoddy defense by Boston in the fourth inning. Third baseman Larry Kling booted a ground ball hit by Mel McDonald. Jake Basinski singled to right field advancing McDonald to second base. A passed ball charged to catcher Don Putnam advanced both runners to second and third. Martin scored on a ground out by Johnny Martin by Mike Manning. Basinski scored on a single to center field by Bill Gabler cutting the lead to 3-2.

Boston responded in the fifth inning. Bowman walked and stole second. When Manning's throw went into center field Bowman went to third where he scored on a ground out to shortstop by Klobedanz. 5-3 Boston.

Boston's fifth and final run tallied in the ninth on a walk to Klobedanz and a triple by Curtright.
