Boston 2 Anaheim 1 [10 Innings]

The Boston Beaneaters have rebounded from a team wide slump and forged their way back into the Fredi Gonzalez American League race on August 15, 1950. The Beaneaters are 22-15, one game behind the Detroit Motowns.

Boston outlasted Aanheim 2-1 in ten innings to claim its fourth straight victory and improved to 3-1 in extra innings this season.

Boston ace Jimmy Gebhardt put forth another outstanding effort but did not get the win. Gebhardt went 7.2 innings allowed four hits and just one run walked two and struck out eight.

Gebhardt took a 1-0 lead and a two hit shutout into the eighth inning on the strength of a second inning by Jimmy Burke, his fourth of the season.

Jimmy Robertson tied the game leading off the eighth inning with his 2nd of the season.

Hilton Bell took over from Gebhardt after opposing pitcher Al Gianelli bunted Sleeper Metger into scoring position with the go ahead run with two out. Bell struck out Ismael Pawloski to end the threat. Bell pitched a scoreless ninth, as well.

Good defense was sprinkled throughout this game.

Anaheim center fielder Ismael Pawloski has six putouts and Boston's center fielder Scott Bowman had five.

Pawloski robbed Joe Curtright of extra bases with a diving catch to start the sixth.

Bowman robbed Andy McClung of a homerun with a leaping catch at the wall to end the ninth inning.

Anaheim right fielder Gus Leibhardt threw out Jim Klobedanz at the plate with one out in the 7th.

Montreal turned two key double plays (3-6-3 and 4-6-3)

After all that good leather thrown about this game ended as the result of an error.

Danny Durning walked to start the 10th inning. Crompton and Curtright both flied out. Mike Putnam singled sending Durning to third base and Durning scored when Leibhardt dropped a fly ball hit by Jimmy Burke.
