Boston 9 Anaheim 5

Boston wins fifth straight.

Boston starting pitchers have gone at least seven innings in seven of their last ten games.

Frank Rice (WP 4-1) logged 8.2 innings in game two of this series gave up eleven hits and five runs, walked five and struck out eight.

Right hander Hilton Bell, who has allowed one earned run over his last 11 appearances worked his second straight game getting the game's final out.

Eddie Houser who lasted just 4.2 innings (four runs on seven hits) walked two in the first inning (Bowman and Klobedanz) then Crompton grounded into a 6-4-3 double play to end the inning.

In Anaheim's second inning Rice walked henry Wilson. Wilson scored on a double by Walter Akers. Johnny Robertson singled to right field and Akers tried to score from second but was thrown out at the plate by right fielder by Hal Crompton.

1-0 Anaheim.

Boston's bats woke up in the bottom of the second. Andy Finnvold walked and stole second (9th) Wilson's throw went into centwer fielkd for an error Finnvold went to thrid base. Red hot hitting Jom Burke (12 for his last 32= .351 4 homeruns) hit his fifth homerun of the season to make it 2-1 Boston. Don Putnam went back to back with Burke, Putnam hit his 4th to make it 3-1 Boston.

Boston kept the momentum in their dugout by adding a run in the 3rd inning.

Jim Klobedanz picking up with the bat and still leading the league in walks, singled to right field, stole second (13th). A passed ball on Wilson sent him to third base. Crompton singled him in. 4-1 Boston.

Anaheim cut into the lead in the 4th inning on a run scoring single by Gus Leibhardt.

4-2 Boston.

Burke added a RBI single in the 5th.

5-2 Boston.

The top of the 6th inning saw Baston cash in four runs to blow the game open. Houser walked Don Putnam, Larry Kling doubled putting runners on first and third. Rice hit a fly ball into shallow left field caught on the run by left fielder Andy McCurry. No advance by either runner. Scott Bowman reached on an infield single to shortstop scoring Putnam. Bowman tagged and scoredon a sacrifice fly hit by Klobedanz.

9-2 Boston.

Hal Crompton added a two run homer in the inning, his 3rd.

A two run homer by Ike Donald sclosed the final score to 9-5 Boston.
