COLORADO 7 PHILADELPHIA 0

Colorado took two of three from fellow contender Philadelphia.

Colorado remained one game in front of San Francisco and two ahead of Los Angeles with a 7-0 shutout victory in the rubber game of their series at Pioneer Stadium In Philadelphia.

The Grizzlies scored three times in the second inning.

Harlin Conlin doubed to start the inning off Pioneer starter Ron Andrus. Anthony Fox hit his first homerun of the season and the first off Andrus this season.

The inning continued. Guillermo Almeida singled to center field but was cut down stealing by Philadelphia catcher Jim Smith. Jim Garrett hit the second homerun of the inning off Andrus to make the score 3-0.

Colorado added three more runs in the fifth inning.

Colorado pitcher Matt Barry led off with a single past shortstop Howie Deal. Andrus walked Gil Mota. Mackinson flied out to center field and Paul McGhee struck out. Andrus walked Carlton Moore to load the bases and Donlin cleared the bases with a triple upping the score to 6-0.

That finished Andrus ((4.2 7H 6R/6ER 4BB/1SO) and Tom Locke took over and struck out Fox to end the inning.

6-0 Colorado.

Colorado added a final run in the seventh inning. Pinch hitter Hiram Hemphill singled in Mackinson to make the final score 7-0.

Matt Barry went 8.2 innings in his first start and won, pitched a complete game shutout n his second to go 2-0 with a 1.02 ERA. Barry allowed three hits five walks and struck out seven.
