Error...posted in wrong league should be Chuck Tanner League...senility possibly to blame

SAN FRANCISCO 5 LOS ANGELES 2


The San Francisco Giants put an end to the los Angeles Desperados seven game winning streak. The Desperados did take two of three from San Francisco in the series. Los Angeles dropped a game behind the Houston Range Rovers who now hold first place all to themselves.


San Francisco started scoring early. Vince Gedeon walked Germany Purnell to start the inning. Purnell was caught stealing by catcher Ed Sipin. Joe Harmon singled with one out. Steve Bender hit a two run homer to put San Francisco ahead 2-0.

Joe Harmon hit a solo homerun in the 3rd inning to make it 3-0, his 4th.

Los Angeles got one run back in the top of the 4th on a walk to Steve merritt and a two out single by Ed Sipin.

3-1 SF

The Giants made it 5-1 in the bottom of the 5th. Ryan Gillespie singled to leftfield off Gedeon and stole second base. Gedeon walked Pete Moore. A passed ball on catcher Ed Sipin moved both runners up. Both scored on Doug Pena's double to left field.

Final score 5-2 Giants

WP Bill Taylor 4-4 went 7 innings 3 hits 2 runs 6 walkls 6 strikeouts.

HOUSTON 7 SAN DIEGO 4

Houston starting pitcher Allan Connolly went six innings allowed six hits and four runs did not walk a batter and had four strikeouts.

San Diego's starting pitcher Ross Cardwell went seven inning allowed eight hits four runs one walk and two strikeouts.

San Diego scored two runs on three hits off Connolly in the second inning. Jesse Clarke singled to center. Connolly struck out the next batter, Cameron Dauer. Miquel Mercado singled to left. Left fielder Bucky Ludwig threw Clarke out at third base. That saved a run because Jose Davalillo the next batter homered, his 5th to put San Diego ahead 2-0.

Third baseman Wally Johnson hit his 3rd homerun to cut the lead in half 2-1.

Alex Ramirez the extended the lead in the 6th with his 2nd long one of the season, the 11th allowed by Connolly which is among the league lead in that category. 4-1 San Diego

Houston rallied in the 6th inning scoring three runs to tie the game 4-4. Julio McGee singled to left field. Joe Shaw beat out an infield single to shortstop. Spooner flied to left. Brashear flied to right..two outs. Dick Moore singled to center field driving in McGee. Shaw to third base. Moore stole second base putting runners on first and third. Wally Johnson doubled to center field driving in two runs (Shaw and Moore) to tie the game.

Houston took charge of the game scoring three times to go ahead 7-4. off Beau Bradley. Joe Shaw walked. Tom Spooner singled Shaw to third base. Spooner caught stealing. Brashear singled in Shaw..Bradley was done.

Jose Aguilar in to pitch.

Aguilar walked his foirst batter, Dick Moore. Wally Johnson singled ( third hit of the game for Johnson, single double homerun) driving in Brashear (fourth RBI). Joel Edwards pinch ran for Johnson (who has B- speed).Doc Jenkins singled in Edwards. Pinch hitter Dave Crawford hit into an inning double play 6-4-3.

Al Boever retired three straight to pick up his 17th save,
