Detroit 4 Boston 3

Detroit came back to win game two after dropping the opener in Boston 4-1. Frank Cremins (2nd) two run homerun in the 3rd inning powered the Sox to the win.

In game two Boston started Chris Clark on the mound and Detroit countered with Hal Small.
Detroit crossed the plate first in the top of the first. Ernie Burleson singled and scored on a single to left by Joe Osgood.

1--0 Detroit

Small had a rough third inning in the third allowing two hits, a hit batter and two walks. Lead-off batter Roy Quinones singled to center field. Clark failed to get two bunt attempts down and with the bunt taken off grounded a single up the middle into center field. Quinones stopped at second base. Quinones and Clark advanced a base on Sam Walker's ground out to shortstop. Small hit Charlie Sample with a pitch to load the bases. Small then walked Timo Marquis and Frank Gammons to force in two runs. Irish Lega got the final run of the inning in with another infield grounder.

Detroit ahead 3-1 after three innings.

Detroit closed it to one run in the sixth when Burleson and Osgood again combined for another run. Burleson singled and Osgood doubled to make it 3-2 Boston.

Detroit took the lead foir good in the eighth inning. Pinch hitter Pete Tracewski reached on a n error by the shortstop, Lega. Tracewski stole second.

Ruben Cress came in to pitch.

Damon Meggert singled in the tying run (Tracewski scored) 3-3.

George Weiss followed with a triple driving in the go ahead run (4-3),

The combination of Al Fennergan and Garth Robinson combined for foour strikeouts and protected that lead. Robinsoin earned his third save.
