Ernie Allen took care of the ninth for his 14th save but it took a little extra effort on his part. Allen walked Stan McGeary. Jed Scott struck out. Catcher Leon Radaski doubled in McGeary to closed the gap to one run. Allen recovered and struck out Charlie Smith and got pitcher Don Hennessey to ground out to end the game.
