Baltimore snapped Boston's five game winning streak and left starting pitcher Ken Turner at 0-3 and still looking for his first win of the season after five starts.

Turner pitched in 7.2 innings allowed six hits and three runs did not walk a batter and struck out 10.

Chris Swann made his first start of the season for Baltimore and went 7.2 innings gave up four hits and one run walked four and struck out six. He also got no decisions.

Eddie Gigon hit a solo homerun in the 5th inning, his 5th of the season to give Boston a 1-0.

Boston rallied to load the bases with two outs in the eight inning. Stan McGeary and Willie Jones came up with two two-out singles brining Roy Davison into the game. Davison walked the first batter he faced, Eddie Gigon, to load the bases. First baseman Chief Johnson saved the day for Baltimore with an all out dive spearing a smash over the bag by catcher Leon Rodaski that ended the inning and turned the tables in favor of Baltimore.

Baltimore rallied for three in their at bat in the bottom of the 8th inning. Ted Godwin tied it up with one swing of the bat, hitting his 4th homerun of the season.

Pinch hitter Greg Outlaw, batting for Davison, singled to right field. John Thomas' two out double scored Outlaw who ran through a stop sign to score the go ahead run.

Chuck Lee came on to pick up his first save for Baltimore but had to give thanks to second baseman Ted Godwin who made a great play to take a hit away from Jack Plummer to end the game.

Davison picked up the win 1-0.

ANAHEIM 5 NEW YORK 4


Fifth straight win for Anaheim allowed them to pick up a game on first place Boston.

Bent Fred doubled in a run in the second inning and Paul Briggons hit his 6th homerun with one on in the 4th and Fred followed Rick Nelson's double with a RBI single to put Anaheim ahead 4-0.

New York rallied with three runs in the seventh on singles by Ted Alcala, Matt Chambers and a double by Button Rosenthal then tied it on a ground out by Dave Carroll in the 8th.

Anaheim won it in the bottom of the 9th.

Rick Nelson doubled. Semperfi walked and Edwin was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Ryan AlDean's single to centerfield scored Nelson with the winning run.
