Washington 5 Baltimore 4

11 Innings

Washington has now played three extra inning games in the last six contests and has been 3-1 in them and 4-1 for the season in extras.

Washington is 4-1 at home and 7-2 away this far.

Washington scored two runs off Baltimore starter Harry Schaller in the 2nd inning. Dave Mahon had a lead off single. Schaller walked Tony Brito and Robinson Rodriquez singled in Mahon. Rodriquez was caught stealing. Brito scored on a fielding error by first baseman Steve Schilling.....2-0 Washington

Rodriquez doubled and scored on a single by Russ Krakowsky in the 3rd inning...3-0 Washington.

Baltimore got on the scoreboard oin the 4th inning scoring two runs on two hits, a single by Sean Luplow and a homerun by Jim Ramirez off Sexton....3-2 Washoington.

Baltimore tied the game in the top of the 8th inning. Catcher Phil Drake singled and stole second with pinch hitter Tom Ruth batting. Washinton made a pitcing change bringing in Bert Johnson who gave up a single scoring Drake (run charged to Sexton).

In the bottom half of the 8th Washington ran itself out of a run. Edwin Umbarger singled by was caugh stealing on a good throw from catcher Phil Drake to second basemam Dave Varner. The caught stealing hurt when Jake Washington homered on the very next pitch...4-3 Washington.

It hurt even more in the top of the 9th when Baltimore tied the game 4-4 on a run scoring single by Sam McHenry. Julie Stankowicz singled stole second and scored the run....4-4 Tie Game.

Washington brought home the victory in the 11th inning. Mahon walked with one out. Tony Brito singled Mahon to third base and Bob Miller grounded a single to left field scoring Mahon with the winning run.

Sexton went 7.1 innings gave up 5 hits 3 runs, all earned, walked 2 struck out out 8 but did not figure in the decision. Bert Johnson pitched 1.2 innings allowed 3 hits and 1 run with two strikeouts. Bob Heffner (3-1) picked up another win pitcxhed 2.1 innings walked win was the winning pitcher.

Mike Fuentes took the losss.

Seattle 5 Los Angeles 2

Los Angeles scored two in ther first inning off Dave McNally on two hits and two walks. The runs scored on a two run single by Mike Cregon. McNally pitched shutout baseball for the next six inning giving upo just three hits and one walk with five strikes.

Seattle tied the game in the bottom of the inning Ralph (Roadrunner) Garr reached on an infield single. Izzy Alcantara tripled. and Garr scored on a sacrifice fly by Sabastian Compton to tie the game 21-2.....

McNally started a scoring rally in the in the 3rd inning with a single. Ralph Garr walked and Izzy Alcantara singled in the run. Compton singled in Alcantara....4-2 Seattle

Alcantara homered in the 5th inning off Brown 5-2 Seattle.

Francisco Rodriquez secured his 2nd save.
