Post by basilrathbonejr »

Washington salvaged final game of their series with Seattle at Pilotz Park. The win allowed Washington to exit the series tied for first place. Seattle has won four of six games against the Senators head up this season. The Pilotz own at least an even record against every team in the American League ((4-2 vs Washington) this season while the men from the capital city have a winning record against all but Seattle.

Third baseman Bob Miller drove in five runs with three hits in five at bats. Miller singled in Tony Brito with a one out single in the four run first inning. Miller scored run number two on a single by Tom Simmons. Catcher Jacob Washington drove in the final two runs with a single to right field.

Washington added run number five in the fourth inning when shortstop Dave Mahon reached on a throwing error by second baseman Hank Greenberg. Mahon scored on Miller's 11th double this season.

Miller was not done. In the sixth inning he hit a three run homerun driving in Mahon and Brito who were walked by losing pitcher Michael Fulmer (5-4 record 5.1 IP 10 Hits 9 Runs allowed (8 earned) 6 walks and 6 strikeouts).

Colby Baines completed nine shutout innings on four hits walked three and struck out six.

Seattle took game one 6-5. rRipper Collins and Sabastain Compton each rove in two runs for Seattle. Jared Weaver (2-2) went eight innings (10 hits 5 runs (3 earned) for the win and Francisco Rodriquez picked up his fifth save with a scoreless ninth.

Dave McNally (6-0) was the story in game two tossing a four hits shutout walking two and stiking out four. Ripper Collins and Sebastian Compton drove in the runs.
