Doubledays take sixth straight in extra innings

Atlanta tied the game in the bottom of the 9th when closer Harshany walked lead off batter Curt Smith and he advanced and scored on singles Denny Bankston and Sam Bibby.

Milwaukee played and won its first extra inning game because All Star closer Jock Harshaney blew his first save of the season by allowing a run on a walk to Curt Smith and singles by Denny Bankston and Sam Bibby.

Atlanta tied the game in the bottom of the 9th inning

The same players figured into Atlanta two run second inning that gave them a 2-0 lead at the time. Smith and Bankston had hits and the scored on a single by Bankston and when Charlie Martinez grounded into a double play.

Milwaukee took the lead 3-2 in the fourth inning on a single and three doubles off losing pitcher Harry Ladd. Kelly Kepshire doubled and scored on a Cherokee Two Dogs single. Two Dogs in turn scored on a double by Bob Burich and the third double of the inning by John Wittig drove in Burich.

The winning run was unearned because lead off batter in 10th, pinch hitter Paul Dennis, reached on an error by 3b Stan Castillo. Catcher Amaury Metheny doubled to right field scoring Dennis. Two outs later Kepshire doubled to left driving in an insurance run.

Emergency starter Charlie Kranish, went eight innings allowed six hits and two runs walked one and struck out four in an impressive outing.

Harshany got the win by shutting down Atlanta in the bottom of the 10th.
